|
|
Hi
I'm currently trying to get XVideo working on my Ultra 10 with a Creator3D. (Kernel 2.4.27-sparc, using the sunffb driver)....but without success so far.
xvinfo says:
X-Video Extension version 2.2
screen #0
no adaptors present
The interesting parts from my Xorg.0.log
Code: |
(II) LoadModule: "extmod"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libextmod.a
(II) Module extmod: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 6.8.0, module version = 1.0.0
Module class: X.Org Server Extension
ABI class: X.Org Server Extension, version 0.2
(II) Loading extension SHAPE
(II) Loading extension MIT-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD
(II) Loading extension BIG-REQUESTS
(II) Loading extension SYNC
(II) Loading extension MIT-SCREEN-SAVER
(II) Loading extension XC-MISC
(II) Loading extension XFree86-VidModeExtension
(II) Loading extension XFree86-Misc
(II) Loading extension DPMS
(II) Loading extension TOG-CUP
(II) Loading extension Extended-Visual-Information
(II) Loading extension XVideo
(II) Loading extension XVideo-MotionCompensation
(II) Loading extension X-Resource
|
So, it seems the extension get's loaded, but at the end of the Xorg.0.log comes this:
Code: |
(II) /dev/fb0: Using acceleration
(II) /dev/fb0: DGA support initialized.
(II) SUNFFB(0): X context handle = 0x00000001
(II) SUNFFB(0): [DRI] installation complete
(II) /dev/fb0: DRM finish setup complete
(==) RandR enabled
(II) Initializing built-in extension MIT-SHM
(II) Initializing built-in extension XInputExtension
(II) Initializing built-in extension XTEST
(II) Initializing built-in extension XKEYBOARD
(II) Initializing built-in extension LBX
(II) Initializing built-in extension XC-APPGROUP
(II) Initializing built-in extension SECURITY
(II) Initializing built-in extension XINERAMA
(II) Initializing built-in extension XFIXES
(II) Initializing built-in extension XFree86-Bigfont
(II) Initializing built-in extension RENDER
(II) Initializing built-in extension RANDR
(II) Initializing built-in extension COMPOSITE
(II) Initializing built-in extension DAMAGE
(II) Initializing built-in extension XEVIE
(II) /dev/fb0: Setting up double-buffer acceleration.

where the XVideo extension is missing from the initialised ones
So, my questions are:
Can I tell X to initalise the extension ?
Does the sunffb driver support XVideo at all ?
Has anyone managed to get smooth DivX playback on a Creator3D, or do I have to fall back to the onboard Ati chip ?
Have I forgotten something important ?
Any help would be appreciated, since searching the forums resulted in no clear answer to that. |

Ferris can better reply to this when he sees it, but I believe in xorg-x11-6.8.0, xv support is not working on the ffb driver (Creator3D and Elite3D cards) |

it may or may not be of use/help but on solaris (SB1000, SunFFB2+) the xv stuff is essentially non-existant ... which was a BIG disapointment to not be able to run mplayer in full screen mode.... _________________ -Tim Smith |

I have been trying to get xvideo to work for some time now. At least I managed to get a line on Xorg.0.log saying that the XVideo extension was activated. I did this by explicitly adding an option to the Extensions section as follows:
Code: | Section "Extensions"
Option "RENDER" "true"
Option "XVideo" "Enable"
EndSection
|
Now Xorg.0.log says:
Code: | ...
(II) Loading extension XVideo
(II) Loading extension XVideo-MotionCompensation
...
(**) Extension "XVideo" is enabled
|
Running xvinfo I get
Code: | X-Video Extension version 2.2
screen #0
no adaptors present
|
which confirms that the extension is present, however has no adaptors. Is there something missing? Do I have to load something explicitly or this just means that sunffb has no support for XVideo at all?
Also this may be a bit off topic but can someone give pointers as to why mplayer and xine will play soud correctly on my Ultra60 but xmms and audacious will play it faster than normal?
Thanks,
Waldeck
