i just got my install working, and x configured.
Now, i have gnome installed, but how do i start it?
Im sure this is a pretty basic question... but... uhh... yar =/
i tried starting gdm and got the no such command thingy. Following the guide, i went to edit the path in /etc/profile but that was a bit beyond me as well. |

If you log in automatically into the console, then edit the file ~/.xinitrc and put the following line in it:
If you can't find a .xinitrc file in your home directly, then create it and put the above line in it. Then run:
If you have configured your system to book directly into X, then put the line in you .xsession file (I think) |

What does "isn't working" and "doesn't work" mean? Are you getting error messages? _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
