I installed cups as directed in the Gentoo printing guide and defined my printers (using kde control centre). However when ever I attempted print a test page with the cups browser interface I got the error
You are not authorised to access the resource on that server
or something to that affect
I looked at the cups access log and noticed that when I attempted to print the test page the request came from occitan (the host name) rather than localhost.
I fixed this by changing the cupsd.conf file from
BrowseAllow 127.0.0.1
Allow From 127.0.0.1
to
BrowseAllow @LOCAL
Allow From @LOCAL
However being security paranoid (and just curious as to why it was not working) I would like to know why it happened and is there another way to fix it. |
