I'm in, sounds like a laugh. I know the landlord of the Eagle too - I'm sure he will be pleased with an unexpected inrush of geeks. |

I am as well from london, although originally from germany, and quite new to gentoo. Nevertheless, I am always up for a couple of pints.
Codo, care to take the train with me, since we have the same way. |

Sounds fun, count me in. Lol - it's a long way to come from Durham for a pint, but as luck would have it I'm going to OxIMUN on the 5th and there was just something unbelievably sexy about the idea of making a short sojourn for a couple of days to check out Cambridge en route beforehand.
EDIT: Sadly, given how poor my attendance record is at the moment, I really can't afford to miss any more days than absolutely necessary for the MUN. Ah well. _________________ The Debian User Forums - help them grow!

Getting from Cambridge to Oxford is harder than you'd expect (by train anyway) - you have to go south past Oxford to London, and then come back up (IIRC you need to go Cambridge -> King's Cross -> Paddington -> Oxford), and it's not cheap either. Maybe there's a coach service that's easier though... _________________ the forums.gentoo.org poster formally known as metal leper |

It appears that this meet has been arranged independently of the Cambridge Linux Users' Group (http://www.cambridge-lug.org/). The CLUG is having a pub meet the day before, at the Free Press pub. If you live in or near Cambridge and weren't aware of this pub meet then you are now .
There has been some discussion on the CLUG list about the Gentoo meet, so we do know about it - I think a few of us are planning to come along to this too, although I personally won't be able to make it unfortunately.

I'm an MIT exchange student at Fitz, and exclusive Gentoo user but not a developer.
I do think we have too many people for the Eagle, at this point. Nonetheless, I'm coming unless told not to. |

well, can anyone else suggest anything else apart from the eagle? we are getting too many people for the eagle, since ppl are coming from all over instead of only cambridge people, including clug people. can anyone else suggest anywhere that would be able to fit 20+ people on that day? _________________ 95% of all computer errors occur between chair and keyboard (TM)

I am going straight from work, but on the way back of course, where abouts are you? I know cambridge a little bit, so we can meet at the station. It seems the pub will be full on thursday! |

Sounds like something I'd be interesting in attending, but unfortunately I play in pool matches every Thursday night so I won't be able to make it. If you arrange regular meetings for another night, could you post a followup / PM me the details?
Cheers!
PS - If you're looking for a good pub for meets which is a little out of town (and hence a little less crowded) the Carlton Arms is a nice place. They have a comfy non-smoking half (you have to actually leave the pub and enter a different door, so it stays smoke free) and a good selection of ales. Wednesday night is quiz night, so probably best avoided. |

Unfortunately I've mixed up November and December. I will be in Cambridge on December the 4th, perhaps we could have another meeting then?

Well, thanks to all who came; I enjoyed it even if noone else did. Even if I don't feel up to arranging anything better, more Cambridge pub meetups are on the cards, I think... |
