Is there a way to theme OpenOffice? It's unbearably ugly. No wonder people don't like it.

There has to be a way to make it look decent... how?

There is an incomplete Gnome 2 theme available at http://evolvedoo.sourceforge.net/

Also, the latest developer build (643C) grabs the colours of my GTK2 theme, and shades icons blue on mouse over (like Office XP).

The OpenOffice.org developers are working on the appearance and integration of the program, so hopefuly there will be some improvements in the near future

If you think that is ugly, you should have seen it 3 years ago (staroffice). The new system is very elegent compaired to then. It was a desktop with a start button etc.

Here's a shot I found. Note that everything runs within this container.

While it tends to be a bit slow (but faster than crossover+office), I find it very usefull and much better than the 'leading competitor'.

I used StarOffice back in those days and I didn't care how ugly it was as long as it would read and write the docuemnts I needed to work on.

Now...Today... Well, that is another story. I wouldn't call it ugly, but I personally don't like the look of any application written with GTK. It just doesn't look right to me. They need to get some serious artist help in generating the look and feel of the toolkit.

The "discussion" of GTK, GTK2 and QT being pretty or ugly is now here.
