|
|
hi everyone,
on my gnome the video windows are always on top. all menus or other windows are disappearing behind the video screen. when i minimize the video window it remains on the desktop (only the moving part). this happens with xine, mplayer, sinek, totem and so on. i've tried several window managers like icewm, fluxbox, blackbox, windowmaker, metacity and sawfish without success. therefore i think it's a library problem. the xine option 'layer-above' doesn't take any effect.
i'm using gnome 2 (latest emerge) with XFree86 4.2.1 (also latest emerge)
any hints?
greetings, pHluG
PS: i've tried to take an screenshot (with the gnome tool) but on these shots everything looks normal. |

I can only share your experiences, just wanted to add that this really seems to be a gnome problem. I tried with kde - everything works, fine, no matter what player you pick, stacking of windows is correct.
a pity I really dislike kde ...

Well, I had the same problem. Seriously.
I have a ATI radeon VE. Old?? Yeah I know.
Any way this happens with totem sinek mplayer.
I think this is a gtk widget problem. I you should compile you app against the latest gtk > 2.1.?? libraries available in portage, then it should work.
Oh and bythe way, I have the
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86
enabled and that probably why I have the newest gtk library.
Good Luck |

i have posted the same problem description to the xfree86 mailing list and got an answer from a developer. he has said that this is a known problem and has been fixed in CVS (4.2.99.3). in 4.3 it should work.
