Hi everyone, just wondering if i could get someone to point me
into the right direction, possibly a guide of some sort to help out
in my attempt to get Gentoo 2004.2 onto my xbox...
ive run quite a few other distros on my xbox (Debian, Mandrake, GenntooX)
as well as installed and used gentoo a couple of my other machines..
ive been trying to follow the standard x86 Handbook and where
neccisary make changes to suit the Xbox....i am up to the kernel
i have successfully booted from LiveCD using cromwell bios fdisked
a 10gig i had lying around... extracted a stage 3 x86 tarball...and installed a
portage snapshot..now i emerged xbox-sources it installed:
linux-2.6.7-xbox-r7 (from memory) and ive done the usual
make menuconfig set all the options and now when i goto to do
make && make modules_install it runs for a while then all of a sudden hits
and error and stops ... (i think somewhere around vmlinux or sumthing)
ill re run it later tonight and get the exact error message..but has anyone
else had any similar experiences if so how did you get around it? Sad

thankx

I used the config from the xbox-linux.org guys in the cvs repository and the xbox sources from portage. The only issue I had was that their config includes the cdrom-reset fix and during the modules_install is gave a warning that there was a missing symbol. Though I don't think it will break, my next step is to manually patch a vanilla kernel and use that with my xbox. My biggest issue is how to launch linux in my set up.

My set up = booting to evox and launching the gentoox/cromwell/xcromwell bootloader as an xbe. But those bioses won't see the linux install unless I make a xbe on my own. Any ideas there?
