I've just emerge Mozilla, and am having trouble getting the java plugin to work with it, i've looked in the plugin directory for mozilla, and the plugin is showed in the directory, but mozilla doesn't seem to be using it? How do I enable the plugin? the java version installed is Blackdown-jdk-1.3.1https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=28384&highlight=java
the java plugin seems to work with konqueror though.... |

This is a known problem with Mozilla and I'm pretty sure its because of GCC3
I use Phoenix, which is mozilla based and works with java because its pre-compiled (called poenix-bin in the portage tree). Give that a try. _________________ - Joseph Monti

Alternatively you can download a binary version of mozilla and either keep both versions on your system or just use the binary only version.
If you want both copies force the binary only to use it's own plugin directory (and not the one indicated by the MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME variable), then you can still use your old copy of mozilla (which you spent so much time compiling only ) for most sites and use the other copy for any sites which need plugins. |

Or perhaps you could compile your own jdk using the sun-j2sdk-1.4.0-r3.ebuild? |
