I have a large amount of files on a FreeBSD x86 machine, and I like to connect to it using my Ultra 5 Gentoo machine. I had a samba share working well that I could connect both my ultra 5 and my winxp laptop to with no problems. The version of samba on the freebsd system is 2.2.11. There must have been a brown out or something, because my freebsd machine was reset. The ultra 5 seemed to make it through just fine, but after that restart of the server, smbclient was not able to connect to grendel. I am no longer able to even list the hosts on it with an smbclient -L host. It returns a "bus error" everytime. The version of smbclient on the ultra 5 is 3.0.7. I am, however, still able to connect to the shares on the winxp laptop. I have tried recompiling samba on it, as well as removing the lockfiles on the server, thinking that might have been the problem. Anyone have any ideas?
