Hey,
I have been using kde3.1_rc5 for a while now, but having installed gentoo 1.4rc2 on a friend's computer (after converting him to linux this week!) I get the following error when trying to emerge kde

any thoughts ? what are deviceman.lo and libkmid ? are they causing the problem?
thanks guys, I'd love to get kde up and running for him! _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |

If youv'e got alsa in your make.conf you will have to emerge alsa-drivers before kdelibs
Or, just remove alsa. _________________ Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

I made them with flags "-mcpu=k6-3 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -mmmx -m3dnow"
Only cup and lame must filter "fomit-frame-pointer".
Now , it works not really fine,I feel (rc_5) is slower than (rc_3). |

I can't seem to get Keramik to "stick" as my default style. I can go to Control Center, select Keramik, and every app gets Keramik style, but if I start a new app, it gets dotNet style.
And there's something more strange. If I logout, cancel, logout again: guess what? I get Keramik in the logout dialog...
Also, I can't set the login wallpaper and/or users' icons/pictures.
Does anybody have similar problems?
BTW: Code: | emerge -V
Portage 2.0.46-r4 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.1, glibc-2.3.1-r3)
CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" |
Thanks in advance,
Norberto
PS: to devs: why does kdeaddons depend on kdegames? |

Are you upgrading from an earlier kde? What happens if you remove (or, to be more safe, move) your ~/.kde* directories? |

Yep, upgrading from 3.0.4.
So far, I tried to rm -rf .kde/ .kde3/ .kde3.1/ .kde.backup/, but nothing helps.
Thanks,

Solved.
The problem was that there were two style directories.
One in:
and other one in: Code: | /usr/kde/3.1/lib/kde3/plugins |
I deleted the former and problem gone. I have Keramik now
I still can't set the wallpaper and icons in kdm, but that's another history.
Regards,
Norberto |
