|

Hi, I want to install 1.4rc2 from scratch.
But there is not a CD image for it.
What then is the proper way to download and install? Should I use the 1.4rc1 CD to boot and then at step 8. (Obtaining the Desired 'stage-x' Tarball) I would simply download the appropriate stage download?

Can anyone tell me the kernel on the rc2 livecd before I download and burn it? I checked out the experimental livecd today and it seemed to work well for me (as I was able to use the e1000 NIC driver), but I would much rather use the "mainstream" livecd instead....
Thanks!

Err.. this could be a stupid question, but is it difficult to upgrade rc1 to rc2 because of "those major changes"? I remember that there was some random problems upgrading 1.2 to 1.4rc1. |

Upgrading form 1.1a to 1.2 was a simple "emerge rsync". Upgrading form 1.2 to 1.4-rc1 was giving problems because of a new gcc-version. But, same question for me: how to update? Simple "emerge rsync" again? _________________ Groeten uit Holland |

There's no difference between what you get after you install 1.4_rc1 and 1.4_rc2. emerge rsync and emerge -u worls should bring you up to date. |

How can I tell whether I am on rc1 or rc2? There must be a variable setting somewhere, but I can't find it? _________________ Tony |

About differences between rc1 and rc2, please read this sticky thread at the top of this forum. _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." -- Calvin |
