|
|
So, I have Gentoo running happily on my old Ultra 5 (installed off of a 2004.1 disk, as the 2004.2 simply would not boot).
Now I find myself needing to use gcc 3.4, which seems to be masked out by the make.profile (which is set to default-sparc64-2004.0), and there seems to be no more recent profile to try for sparc64.
So, are there more recent profiles in the works which will use gcc 3.4?
And, what are the implications/recommendations about trying to mess with the profile to allow gcc 3.4?
Advice welcomed. _________________ Take care,

As for the profile, since there haven't been any significant changes needed to the profiles since 2004.0, we haven't updated them.
As to gcc-3.4, in our testing, it really isn't ready for regular sparc release. There have been some problems with building some of the packages in the base system either on a from scratch setup or an existing system. Until it seems a little happier on SPARC it will probably stay masked. |

Thanks for the info!
Looks like I'll have to see if I have other options for my project, in the meantime. _________________ Take care,
