I asked half a month ago, how to set up xdsl-connection with gentoo during installation, because it didn't work. Now I know , that all connections in Austria(where I'am living) have to be set up using pptp.
My problem is, that there is no pptp with the liveCD.

Question:
Is there any possibility to build pptp during the installation, so I can bring up my Internetconnection?

If you have searched for information on this topic you have made a mistake. PPTP is technology used to utilize a virtual private network (VPN).

Might I suggest that you search for information using the term ppp (which I forget what it stands for) and the name of your dsl service provider, or device manufacturer.

T

EDIT+= Then again, maybe my entire post is duff, as pptp is indeed used in the Netherlands. Afraid I am only familiar with ppp ppoa and ppoe in the context of dsl.

I had the same problem, live in Austria as well.
You might want to follow this:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11341

I worked around this by using an old 486 DX as Router, using
http://www.bbiagent.net/en/index.html
A website, where you can "click-configure" a router disk image for download.
