hello;
i have a "creative soundblaster live 1024" and i compiled the kernel 2.4.20 with sound support an the emu10k1-sound-driver.
i think this one is the right one, but sound does not work.
it tried different kernels (older, gentoo's). but the same went wrong.
which driver shall i use?
which options du i have to enable as well? (mayby there are some i don't know)
thanks in advance

If you use/want to use ALSA, use the ALSA installation guide.
Otherwise, enable "es1371" (I'm not sure if it's needed, but I enabled it anyway), "emu10k1" and the "OSS sound modules" entries in your kernel config. |

Sound --->
<M> Sound card support
[...]
<M> Creative SBLIVE! (EMU10k1)
[...]
That's the only two options I have enabled for my SB Live Player 1024. I just put 'emu10k1' in /etc/modules.autoload and I'm set.
I have not yet experienced any problems with it. But you could maybe try a mixer tool like aumix to see if you need to raise the volume of some channels. |

but: there were no sound devices.
maybe the matter was i compiled as as non-modules.
but i don't care anymore, i visited
http://opensource.creative.com
and got the emu10k1 newest one, it works wonderful, the card is now fully suported and the sound is much better than in FreeBSD for example ("device pcm").
thank you \

do you possibly checked Creative SBLive! MIDI too? i'm not sure, but i think this terribly sucks and wasn't fixed to work since it was put into the kernel. whenever i tried this one i got no sound just like you.
and as for quality concerns, i suggest to use alsa (rc_6 works just fine) because it supports most hardware features of the card. _________________ If you fall off a cliff, you might as well try to fly. After all, you got nothing to lose.
