When I emerge kde 3.1 rc5 - will it be separate from 3.0 or will it be an automatic upgrade?
Stupid question i know - sorry Not sure if I have to do an upgrade switch or not to kde 3.1 when I emerge it.
Thanks |

It'll be an upgrade. There's no useage of SLOTS with the KDE ebuilds. Even if you don't use the upgrade switch, it will still upgrade and autoclean. TBH, I have no idea what difference using the -u switch makes. |

I emerged them and have both installed right now and emerge world doesn't try to upgrade them. emerging 3.1 didn't try to remove 3.0 _________________ What Larry was saying is that if you make it too easy for programmers, then poor programmers will be able to do things best left to good programmers, and will inevitably do them poorly. KDE ebuilds do use slots. I currently have KDE 3.0.4 and KDE 3.1rc5 installed.
You can have 3.0 and 3.1 installed at the same time due to KDE's use of slots. |

Oops, you're right. I didn't see SLOTS in the ebuild but that's because I wasn't look at kde-base/kdelibs. Sorry about that. |
