I have the following setup:

hda1 - gentoo /boot
hda2 - gentoo swap
hda3 - gentoo /

hdb - cdrom

hdc1 - windows 98

hdd - burner

When I boot Windows, I have the 2 hard disks switch using grubs map function so the disk with gentoo on it shows up as d:.

I'd like to be able to hide hda alltogether so there is no chance of windows accidentally waxing my gentoo install ... last time I used windows and opened explorer it asked me I wanted to format the D: drive!

Mark

Try disabling it in the device manager / system properties or whatever its called(in windows that is). I should think that would remove it from list of drives in explorer.
