I've been using a Logitech MouseMan Wheel USB Optical for about 3 years now and I have had no problems with it at all - feel, drivers, compatiability with linux etc etc.
In fact I know about 5 or 6 people who have replaced their Intellimouse explorers etc (ie Microsoft Mice) as they hated they way they behaved. As soon as they tried my mouse they were very keen to know where to get one, what its called, how much it was, can they have mine etc etc
In short
try a logitech |

Logitech MX700. Tis wonderful.
The extra buttons are nice (wish they were fully configurable in Linux though)
And the mouse is pretty big, which is ncie since I have big hands - ergonomics are all very well and good, but if the mouse is half the size of your hand they're not going to do much. |

They are in fact configurable in Linux.

Yeah, it's meant for MS mice but it worked for my friend's Logitech MX510 as well.
Also, I use a Wireless Intellimouse Explorer that eats through batteries faster than someone eating through pie at a pie eating contest. MS mice are horrible, but I highly recommend the Logitech MX510 because it's a really nice mouse(yes, I've used my friend's). |

Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical 1.1A USB.
It rocks, except for the fact that it sometimes randomly sends a mousewheel event while I'm not touching the mouse. _________________ we are microsoft, lower your firewalls and surrender your pc's. we will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. your culture will adapt and service us. resistance is futile. |

MS IntelliMouse w/IntelliEye 1.0 (optical, scroll wheel, usb).
Works perfectly, love the shape. I feel very uncomfortable when I have to use a Big mouse that you have to wrap your entire hand around to reach the buttons. I want to work with the precision my fingers give me, it doesnt feel as accurate when I have to turn my whole hand around to move the mouse pointer. Ok...this post was slightly OT, sorry |

I've got MX700 too. It's wonderful mouse, though if one is looking for new mouse I'd suggest MX1000. It's basically next generation MX700.
Review of MX1000. |

I replaced an intelliexplorer with a Logitec Trackman wheel (optical track ball), I just wanted to be different, I think its pretty cool and better for you RSI in the long run but even tho is optical theres still a ball (duh) so you get lint on the pin head htingo that holds it up.
I might change back ot a mouse again |

Cheap but up there with the best of 'em IMHO. Very responsive and comfortable. I have 2 of 'em. One for 5 years, and the other for 2 years.
The picture doesn't do it justice though. _________________ blog | homepage | alias | prompts |

I have a logitech USB thumb-wheel..
Wireless and opitcal mice alike have failed me - this one has yet to fail me in any way. (Well cleaning it every couple weeks is kinda tedious but oh well.) |

Another happy mx700 user. All the buttons should work properly with the evdev protocol. I've never bothered getting the two smartscroll buttons to do anything but scroll, but I like it that way. The only problem I can think of is X's inability to fully use >5 buttons. For example, I can't hold down button 8 and drag something. X only supports complex mouse events for buttons 1-5. |

I've been using a Logitech Dual Mouseman Optical for quite a while now, although I do still have a working Microsoft Intellimouse when I need it. |

I am using the mouse that comes with the Creative Desktop 6000. It's crap! I wouldnt reccomend it to anyone. Not at the moment anyway. It barely works under Linux, and I am having to use an old PS/2 Mouse instead. The keyboard is alright, but gets a lot of interferance. Even whilst writing this message, I am experiencing problems, and having to type slowly, so that I dont miss any errors. It's a shame because it looks so nice. Oh well. I too am looking for a new mouse/keyboard. Logitech seems like the way forward. _________________ Thanks,

I have 2 mouses ..
one MX700: this mouse is da bomb! It feels so good in your hand, and the back & forward buttons are wonderful! And they work perfectly in GNU/Linux! So I also suggest you to buy this one (or the newer MX1000)
one dell optical mouse: just a simple mouse, works great but I miss my MX700 when I use this one _________________ nitro-sources, because between stable and experimental there exists only speed
Latest release I made: 2.6.13.2-nitro1 |
