Dell Inspiron 8200 + iPod == Kenel oops

Hi all,

Has anyone else experienced kernel oops when connecting their iPod? Every three or four connects tend to result in an opps followed by a lockup. The oops are not completely consistent but kjournald (I am running a ext3 based system) is a common causualty.

I'm using a stock v2.4.20 kernel. gcc 2.95.3. The system gentoo 1.2 "stable" (e.g not ~x86).

Ext3 and 2.4.20 have some reports of file corruption. See also EXT3: Dangerous or ????

Sorry I should have said, I have also seen this problem with 2.4.19 (although at that point I was using the -gentoo version not the vanilla sources). The frequency I think is about the same on the two versions.
