|
|
In the file type section, I added mplayer to all video files, so I would expect mplayer to come up when I click on any video in konqi.
I use mplayer with the GUI and whenever I click on a video file, mplayer video vindow comes up but the GUI appears as a "black spot" on the desktop, with no video playing. After a good minute (!) or two I have the GUI up and the video starts playing...
Has anyone seen this? What people use in KDE menu to start mplayer? |

Also did that, without any problems. I added gmplayer, so that it automatically starts the gui, worked for me! |

I think your problem is related to the fact that your default audio output is not arts. So when you start mplayer in KDE, mplayer does not get sound. After a minute or so, arts releases "the sound" and your audio output is on, and the video is played.
So, make sure you can play videos using arts. In a terminal test it with:
Code: |
mplayer -ao arts video.mpg
|
If this works, add the line
to your ~/.mplayer/config file.
Good luck,
Anton. |

Thanks a lot, this was the problem! Interestingly, I needed to set arts in the GUI mode, not just simply in .mplayer/config...
Thanks again: Viktor |

No Problem, glad to help. Apparently mplayer and gmplayer have different config files. I did not know that and will have to check that as soon as I am back at my linux machine!
Greetings,
Merry X-Mas,
Anton. |
