I'm running red hat 7.1.... mostly because gentoo doesn't run very good gaming servers 8) otherwise I would be running gentoo for sure!

Anyway, how do I telnet my router? I tried telnet 192.168.20.3 (router's ip) and I got:

Code:
Trying 192.168.20.3...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

I have to login with user: admin

The reason why I have to telnet my router is to forward more ports, which I can probably figure out how to do on my own. Usually I just go to http://192.168.20.3 but I can't get to a browswer remotly :x

Thanks!

Rain

I'm not sure what freesco is...

the router is a linksys, I'm almost positive you can connect to it through telnet.

and if freesco is an ap, then I don't run it

Thanks

Freesco is software you can use to make a linux router, I was checking to see if if was a linux box or a hardware router.

I never telneted to a Linksys router, I used the web admin thingy.

Are you sure the router's ip isn't 192.168.20.1, I think that the Linksys router wants to be the first IP on your network.

the router's ip is 192.168.20.3

I mean to say .20.3, I accidentally put .1

its .20 because there are 19 other networks, so the network my server is on is network 20.

Thanks

I don't use linksys routers, but typically you have to explicitly configure telnet as enabled. for example on a cisco router you have to put a password ont the vtty's.

If you can get into the router like you normally do, try grubbing around for some sort of telnet config option

Good Luck

I don't use a Linksys either, but I know someone who has one, and his
administration interface is web-based not telnet-based. If you don't
have access to a browser and the telnet interface isn't enabled, why
not try a text-based web application like lynx or links?

a text based browser would work!

Good thinking, I'll look into it.

I configed my linksys router with httpd. I'm almost certain it has telnet, but maybe its not configured.

Thanks for the replies!

Or, if you've got a unix machine with a gui hiding behind that router, you could use X-forwarding over SSH to get a graphical browser...
