Hi, does anyone know how to get the Promise ATA 100 controller on the GA7ZXR loaded for installing gentoo? I can't get my drive mounted and the PCI-Setup fails to recognise the drives.
Thanks

Are the drives recognized in the BIOS? What sort of drives are you using?
I have a Promise ATA 100 RAID controller and 2x120 Western Digital HDDs. I couldn't get the controller to see the drives at all -- never mind the OS layer. I called up promise support and they suggested removing the master/slave jumpers on the HDDs completely. Worked like a charm.

The bios does recognise the drives i have windows xp sitting on them just now, and I removed Redhat yesterday. The drives are 2 x IBM-DTLA - 307030 30GB each.
I had problems installing Redhat 8.0 as well. Redhat recognised the drives but when I was partitioning it gave me an error message that the setup program does not know about any of the changes I had made. After clicking OK a dozen times the install continued without any problems.
