I keep getting an error when I emerge kde-3.1_rc5, I tried setting ACCEPT_KEYWORDS to "~x86", I commented the KDE 3.1 RC5 packages in /usr/portage/profiles/packages.mask but still it would not emerge it. Could someone please help me?

The error:
Code:
# emerge /usr/portage/kde-base/kde/kde-3.1_rc5.ebuild
Calculating dependencies \

!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "~kde-base/kdegames-3.1_rc5" have been masked.
!!!    (dependency required by "kde-base/kde-3.1_rc5" [ebuild])

!!! Error calculating dependancies. Please correct.

You actually need to comment them out.

IE like this [code]# <danarmak@gentoo.org> (08 Dec 2002)
# kde 3.1 rc5: masked permanently
#~kde-base/arts-1.1.0_rc5
#~kde-base/kde-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdeaddons-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdeadmin-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdeartwork-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdebase-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdebindings-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdeedu-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdegames-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdegraphics-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdelibs-3.1_rc5

#~kde-base/kdenetwork-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdepim-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdesdk-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdetoys-3.1_rc5
#~kde-base/kdeutils-3.1_rc5
#<hannes@gentoo.org> (09 Dec 2002)

I think you might have to accept the the ~x86 keywords at emerge time. Do this by setting the ACCEPT_KEYWORDS right along your emerge command like this:

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge kde-3.1

ahh try this... You have your ACCEPT_KEYWORD in /etc/make.conf AND you have the kde3.1_rc5 stuff commented out.

THen do an emerge kde and that should do what you want. The reason you have to do this instead what you tried is that KDE is made up of a BUNCH of different packages and I BELIEVE that kde is a virtual tag/group which makes sure everything gets merged in.

Otherwise, you'd have to emerge all the KDE packages in the right order. IE arts first, then kdelibs THEN kdebase, then the rest of em in whatever order you want.
