|
|
Well, currently I use xine for all my movies, but I'm interested in mplayer due to the new quicktime support. The problem is that DVD sound had pretty bad synch with the video, while DVDs in xine are virtually perfect. I was using the X11 driver at the time, would using Xv help this? Also, is there any way to use DVD-menus/navigation like in Xine?
<edit> I just saw that mplayer 0.90rc1 is out. I'll try it, but I've never had that great of luck with mplayer </edit> |

You should try the xv driver and then come back to us and tell us if anything has changed. Xv, I believe, is a better driver for what you want. |

Well, I installed the new version, and tried both the xv and gl2 outputs, but nothing. It still seems to skip when watching DVDs or even a divx movie (the 1024x--- Warcraft3 trailer). I tried disabling the audio, and it was a little better, but not that great. As far as dvd-nav support, it seems mplayer doesn't have that feature stable. But I'll settle for no dvd menus if I could just get it to play smoothly, grr. It's also compiled for all extensions except SSE2 (on an AthlonXP). |

The mplayer people advise their users to mount their DVDs before playing them, because of some buffer thing, don't know what it is.. But give it a try.. If that doesn't work, do you have DMA enabled? If neither of this result, then I'm out of sugestions _________________ Lego my ego, and I'll lego your knowledge

yes and yes, it was mounted on boot. Before, I could get it to play the "new line cinema" intro then quit (but no sound). Now nothing. Im going to try other software. |
