I just got a SPARCstation5, and.. I cant seam to get the mouse to work with it, nor with linux or solaris
cat /dev/sunmouse just sits there..
its got a Type 5c keyboard and a Compact 1 type ball mouse that plugs into the keyboard.. everywhere I can find these systems came with optical.. and I did get the optical mousepad. hurrm.. so.. did I get the wrong mouse with it? can I get a replacement or some sort of ps/2 (or serial) converter?
im ready to sodder one to the board if needs be. :D |

using an opto-mech ("ball mouse") or optical Compact 1 is a-ok on the sparc5. There was a model for the Voyager thats a 4800baud type. If the part number ends in 01, thats what you have, and thats also your problem. You might be able to adjust the baud rate using Sparc Linux driver. I've never done that, I can't say for certain if you can.
If you happen to live in Seattle, like your profile suggests, visit RE-PC in Tukwilla and pickup a 1200 baud version for $5-10. You might be able to find them elsewhere, like the RE-PC in Seattle, but the Tukwilla shop has far more sparc items. _________________ Everyone has something clever for a signature but me. |
