Hi,

I'm thinking about getting me an old SGI machine from Ebay...the problem is, I know that in order to hook this machine up with a monitor, this monitor has to support Sync-On-Green...I have a relatively new 15 inch TFT display at my Desktop, it's from a german manufacturer called Medion (ALDI Fans, do you hear me? ). The thing is, I can't find any decent documentation on this piece of hardware anywhere, and believe me, I've tried!
So, is there an easy way of finding out if a certain monitor supports sync-on-green or not?

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!

Incidently, the playstation2 linux kit requires a sync on green monitor too. So here is a link to the ps2 linux sync on green database.

I got myself an IBM P50 for about $15USD.

Sun monitors are sync on green, but typically don't work on SGI's.

Also, 13w3 to vga adaptors made for sun systems won't work on SGIs.

It is possible to hack a sun monitor to work on an SGI. I did a while back...

I bought several of those goddamn 13W3 adaptors with absolutely shit luck (I didn't know of the incompatible and evolving standards, fuck you very much SUN and SGI) until I found these people:

I've gotten three adaptors from them and they've all worked perfectly. Compare that to none of the five or six I bought previously...
