I was reading the thread about how someone was almost kicked out of school because he booted a knoppix disk to do his homework on a school machine.

I was just curious how ready people in the Gentoo community are able to bust out the Linux mojo at any time.

My Knoppix disk was "borrowed" by one of the computer science professors I work with, I haven't replaced it yet. However, I keep a SysRescue CD in my laptop bag for use at the school lab I work in to setup machines, fix random things people come in and harass me about. So I have a bootable linux distro pretty close by at all times.

I really wanted to select #3 just because it's funny, but I do carry Knoppix and a Gentoo Universal LiveCD with me to work.

It's part of my toolkit at work, along with my copy of Sun Tzu's Art of War, API references, a flat head and a Phillips head screwdriver, and Vim for Windows. If a machine dies at the office, I'm there to boot it up and salvage the data with my trusty Knoppix disk and Samba.

I always take a Knoppix CD with me when I go out. It has come in handy a number of times. I also recently started taking a SuSe liveCD with me as well. The SuSe desktop is just a lot cleaner and more polished looking than the Knoppix desktop. It doesn't come with nearly as many apps as Knoppix but it rocks. I have the CD's in my laptop backpack which I take everywhere.

A day without my Linux is like a day without my Pops cereal! :P

Heh, but I seriously never go anywhere without some form of bootable linux. Whether its RIP(Rescue is Possible linux), LNX-BBC, Phlak, or Knoppix, I always have at least one of them on my person (LNX-BBC fits on those mini-cds, so i can fit it in my wallet  ). I learned never to go anywhere without one the hard way. Many times I would visit friend's houses where their windows machines where so crapped up with spyware and viruses that I couldnt bare to use their computers without cringing and having hemriges in my brain, and every time I would think to myself "sure wish I had knoppix with me...".

I've got a few assored bootable distros but I rarely use them. My job generally doesn't involve recovering machines, although me using Knoppix did save my boss's data a while back when his hdd was clicking itself to death.

I don't carry a bootable CD around with me. If I need my Linuxy goodness whist away from my home terminal, I use SSH.

My Gentoo LiveCD has never left the house (not even sure where it is), and I've never laid eyes on knoppix.
