Hi all.
I look for past tread but didn't find anything
I've got a sun ultra 10 with 2 vga cards
m64 embedded
raptor pci
The problem is only on console, when I boot I can see the OK Prompt.
After the boot I can see only a black screen on both monitors.
I really cannot understand why..
If I connect on the box via ssh and type "startx" it will appear the x session on the m64 vga card!!!!

Ah this is an easy one.
Enable Mach64 support in your kernel. That will turn on the m64 card. Secondly raptor cards don't work in linux. And I don't see any work being done to fix that.
Raptors as far as I can tell are regular Permedia II cards (like the old Diamond FireGL 1000, STB/Symetric Glyder Maxx)
Permedia boards work in x86 but need more work for sparc i think. Another option would be to pick up a cheap PCI ATI rage card on ebay and put it in as a second display and there's a good chance you'll get it to come up when you have xinerama loaded. It might not however work under solaris. _________________ Inspiron 4100 & Sun UltraAXe

Hi, thank you so much for your reply.
Both the vga cards are loaded in the kernel.
# lspci
0000:01:02.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage Pro 215GP (rev 5c)
0000:02:01.0 Display controller: 3DLabs Permedia II 2D+3D (rev 01)
The only problem is on console visualization, and I still don't understand.
xfree is working fine.
Cheers. |

You just have to enable mach64 framebuffer support, just because lspci sees them doesn't mean they are working. _________________ Inspiron 4100 & Sun UltraAXe
