Good Morning all.
I've succesfully installed gentoo on Ultra10 sparc box.
The ONLY problem is running Xfree.
It is the latest version but cannot recognize the keyboard... the mouse /dev/sunmouse works fine!
It is a non-usb keyboard type 6
This is my /etc/X11/XF86Config conf :
XkbRules "sun"
XkbModel "type5"
XkbLayout "us"
XkbCompat "compat/complete"
XkbTypes "types/complete"
XkbKeycodes "sun(type5)"
XkbGeometry "sun(type5)"
XkbSymbols "sun/us(sun5)"
no error on xfree logs but it doesn't work
This is my kernel boot:
su(mouse) at 0x1fff13062f8 (irq = 4,7ea) is a 16550A
Sun Mouse-Systems mouse driver version 1.00
su(kbd) at 0x1fff13083f8 (irq = 9,7e9) is a 16550A
Sun TYPE 5 keyboard detected without keyclick
Please can anyone help me?

I assume you added a USB pci card. Is your mouse a USB mouse, plugged into the USB card too? |

Hi,
thanx for your reply.
I've got "NON-USB" keyboard and mouse
I've got mouse plugged into keyboard and keyboard plugged into the box with PS/2 similar.
Cheers. |

I didn't know there was a type 6 non-usb keyboard.
I still haven't got my mouse working so I can't really help.
I'll send you a working .config when I get everything going though.

Hey
Don't worry.. I solved in this easy way..
/etc/X11/XF86Config
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard1"
Driver "Keyboard"
Option "AutoRepeat" "500 30"
Option "XkbRules" "sun"
Option "XkbModel" "type5"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
EndSection
Cheers! |

I also have this keyboard, the type 6 non-usb, and I havnt had much luck getting it to work on anything but my ultra. It must be some sort of rare model from sun, because I havn't seen any documentation on it at all. _________________ ~:CK:~ |

I looked into a type 6 uk, I understood that the type 6 non usb was identical (apart from looking funky) to a type 5, the only difference being support for the euro char.
