|
|
When bootstrapping, I can't seem to access ibiblio. I'm able to resolve the hostname to the ip 152.2.210.81
BUT, that ip seems to lead to nowhere. I've tried from the windows machine i'm using now, and it doesn't seem to work either. |

Is there a way to change the default download location?
gatech.edu works, but I don't know how to use that to install from.... anyone know how to change this?

Don't edit make.globals. Please. Add a GENTOO_MIRRORS line to /etc/make.conf, instead. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

ibiblio is hosted at UNC, and UNC's name servers seem to be unreachable. I can't ping either ns or ns2.unc.edu. Does adding a GENTOO_MIRRORS line in make.conf not help things? Have you tried sunsite.dk or linux.no? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

can't find the latest version of portage on the mirrors, portage thinks it's r3, the mirrors think it's r2

They're listed in http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml. A sample GENTOO_MIRRORS line is in /etc/make.globals: just copy it to /etc/make.conf and edit the URL. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

Well, the mirrors probably are having a hard time contacting ibiblio as well. Can you try masking that version of portage, or just deleting or moving that ebuild away?
EDIT: ibiblio is responding for me now. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

ibiblio is probably one overworked network... My wife needed me to grab Chaucer's Canterbury Tales for her today, so I pulled a copy from Project Gutenberg and was really surprised to see ibiblio being used as a backend for that project too.. And it was sloooow for me doing that too... _________________ Linux user off and on since circa 1995 |

ok. it's happily bootstrapping now. I deleted the ebuild from the tree. I'll just merge the new version later now that ibiblio is back up. |
