|
|
Hi all. I've juste bought an laptop, the HP omnibook xe4400, and I'd like to install Gentoo. The problem is that all boot CD's cause a system freeze at the end of the boot process so I can't go any further.
Any idea ?? _________________ patg68

Hi
I had the same problem on a Maxdata laptop (Pentium IV, ALI M15x3 chipset); I had to add the extra parameter "ide=nodma" to boot.
Now I'm using the ac-sources kernel, it includes the IDE driver revision 7.00beta which allows me to enable DMA on the disk.

Thanks for the tip, but it doesn't work, still freezing after booting with the ISO CDs, unable to strike any key. _________________ patg68
