After installing xfree and xconsole from portage, I looked and there was no /dev/xconsole, so I created manually with `mknod -m 644 /dev/xconsole p`. I try to start xconsole like this:
xconsole -file /dev/xconsole 2>&1 &
It comes up on the desktop. Then I try to echo text through as root:
echo "TEST" > /dev/xconsole
It hangs at the commandline with no output to the xconsole.
Can someone please clue me in on missing procedures to get it working? _________________ --------> Why don't you bastards start wearing human skins?<-------- |

Well, why don't you try to /dev/console
I just
xconsole -fg green -bg black -g -0-0
then
echo "test" > /dev/console
and seems to work |
