Hi,

I recently installed Gentoo on my Miata and have been fighting to get sound working ever since. The built-in sound device is a es1888. When I use the kernel OSS sb modules (2.4.26) sound works without a problem, but when I use the parameters that it prints out in dmesg to pass them to alsa, alsa can't find any card. Nor with the es18xx-driver, nor with the sb16 driver.
It prints following line in dmesg :

Code:
ALSA ../../alsa-kernel/isa/sb/sb-common.c:252: sb: can't grab port 0xdc

using the es18xx modules gives same type of error, unable to grab ports 0xdc-0xeb

I have let alsaconf search for the card but that didn't help. Strange thing is that the OSS sb-module says my card uses IRQ 7 while the SRM (iconfig) says it is configured with IRQ 5. I have tried both alsa 1.0.5a and 1.0.3.

Anybody have any ideas ? I would really like to use alsa so I can play around with MIDI.

Thx in advance !
