OK, I'm almost done.
How does one edit the /etc/fstab directory? Does it need to be created first?

also, what do you type at the grub prompt to launch linux?

If you follow the install instructions for the parts about creating grub.conf and menu.lst, you shouldn't have to type anything at startup. If you're getting a grub prompt, that leads me to think you may have missed a step (or not done the menu.lst part)
