I'm not an xinetd guru or anything, but I would like to reduce overall boot time of my gentoo box and I figured one way would be to use xinetd to start most of my daemons like sshd, etc. I'm almost sure it will work fine with sshd, but how about cupsd, alsa, and gpm:?: I'm not so sure xinetd can detect when I wan't to print or start gpm when I'm using a console. I hope I'm wrong, hehe. Also, does xinetd work well with rc-update so that I could type something like this... rc-update add sshd xinetd ... to add the service to xinetd instead of default of boot |
