Any chance of seeing anything like this for XFree anytime soon? _________________ Tactless

I do plan trying to do something like that eventually (as in maybe this winter but not sure). The plan is use SVG so scaling and such would look great. I don't have the time right now, and this will be my first big linux programming project. I hope to be able to use nautilus and librsvg code to help me out. |

Umm.. if this is a windows app, why the heck are the icons from KDE? Check out the folder icon, and especially the Kmail icon.
So let me get this straight, they're coming out with this in windows, using KDE icons? Someone call the copyleft police!! |

It uses everaldo's Crystal icon theme which is GPLed, so free for anyone to use. _________________ Of all the things I lost, I miss my mind the most. |

It's kind of hard to actually figure out what it does from reading their web-page.
To me it looks like the icons change in size when the mous pointer passes over them. If that's what you want, emerge kde 3.1. My taskbar does that today.

1. The main difference between the OS X Dock (along with its emulators) and the KDE kicker icons is that the icons gradually resize as the cursor approaches them - the closer the cursor is to it, the larger the icon is. Perhaps this changed in KDE 3.1?
2. IIRC, alpha transparency is not active when the icons are enlarged in KDE. Again, maybe this changed for 3.1.
3. Such a dock would be more useful standalone... I'd like to use it in fluxbox, for example. I guess being wm-independent means that it won't be able to handle minimized windows, but I mainly want it as a launcher. _________________ Tactless

This is slightly different than what you are looking for, but it is a very advanced conception of a taskbar. It is still in a planning stage of developement, so don't count on seeing it availible anytime soon, but I thought you might be interested in it anyway.
