Every time I hear this:

I was downloading the stage 3 tarball and running out of room (RAM) because I wasn't downloading it to my hard drive...
make sure you cd /mnt/gentoo before "wget"ing the file (if that's what your doing).... |

The Gentoo installation process, especially from stage 1, is one of the most demanding things you can do to computer hardware. It will reveal hardware problems that would go completely unnoticed installing and using Mandrake. However, if you use this computer long enough, you will likely see random lockups and crashes, and so it's always a good idea to try to eliminate these problems as soon as you can. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
