Try doing a search of the forums useing "gentoo-sources" then maybe "gentoo-sources AND 'your cpu'".

is this done the same way u do it in vanilla-sources , from gentoo.org doc of course
i am using 2.4.20 but i wanna use the gentoo sources i hear is way better
# cd /usr/src/linux
# make menuconfig
# make dep && make clean bzImage modules modules_install
# mv /boot/bzImage /boot/bzImage.orig
[if bzImage already exists]
# cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot

and is there anythin important on compiling or choosing the modules
i am using a dell dimmension 8100 1300MHz pentium4 640mb ram , i dont use any usb stuff
thank u

You have /boot mounted?
In the default fstab it is not mounted so you would need to mount it before being able to copy the new kernel there.
