Can Linux work with my 2Wire PC Port USB HPNA Adapter?

My family recently moved, and now I'm too far away from the router to connect my computer to it with a cable. But SBC provided us with an adapter that plugs into any phone jack and a USB port. It works with Windows XP, but requires special drivers.

Now I'm trying to get Gentoo online. I've tried enabled all the ethernet/network related USB drivers in my kernel config, no dice.

Here's a link to the product description. The only drivers available for download are for Win or Mac.

I'm temped to say you should have moved the router too.

Anyway, plug the device in and get its Vendor and Product IDs.
That will give us some specific info to work with. You may find the info in dmesg. It will certainly be in /proc/bus/usb/devices. Get usbview if you want to make it easy to read.

we were sent a new router/modem combo too, but it needs to be in another room too far away.

http://www.spinics.net/lists/rh-inst/msg32056.html offers some guesses. It needs either a powered USB hub or a port on the Pc to itself
