Same here.

I also tried revdep-rebuild but it didn't fix it either.

I'm going to downgraded by doing:
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge =mplayer-1.0_pre4

My mms URL is:
Code:
mplayer mms://66.250.188.20/CFNY_FM

This uses the IP address instead of hostname and still doesn't work.

I'm having the same problem. Downgrading to 1.0_pre4-r7 didn't help. I'll keep moving backwards until I find one that works, I suppose...

1.0_pre4-r4 seems to work. Did a patch or something possibly break this?

hmm same here. Altough mplayer-1.0_pre3-r5.ebuild seems to work fine after that something is wrong with dns/host resolving. Doing this from a host in a LAN.

Polle are you connected directly to the NET ?

Actually I think it is more of a parsing problem. As when I use the IP it still doesn't work.

We need a fix for this, have anyone checked if there is a bug report for this at mplayer.hq?

What does "network" do in a general sense? Seems like a bad name for whatever it might enable/disable...

Looks like "network" is a new use flag... the pre5-r2 ebuild contains
Code:

    if use !network; then
einfo "Please note, a new network USE flag was added for users"
einfo "with networkless installs.  If you use mplayer for streaming"
einfo "media, please enable the network USE flag or it will not work!"
        einfo
    fi

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a "networkless" USE-flag? I believe there are more people with network access than ones without...

If you don't have a network, how would disabling network features help you at all? Wouldn't the physical lack of a network make redundant any removing of networking features from programs such as mplayer?
