I'm having real problems getting a once working 1.4 system back up and running after a data loss or SCSI disc problem. These are the immediate problems at boot up.
devfsd doesn't start
Both /dev/sda1 (ext3) and dev/sda3 (reiserfs) return errors which fsck.ext3 and fsck.reiserfs try and succeed to repair. Reporting File system repaired (yellow exclamation marks)
mount: special device not found /dev/sda3 and the same for /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1.
Local won't start. Various Respawning messages, delayed for 5mins.
I shut down and boot from install CD, check the drives with fsck, mount all drives without any problem, no errors.
Any solutions? |

Hmmm, maybe a corrupted kernel? Have you tried rebuilding your kernel after booting from your CD? Might need to do that and copy the new bzImage into /boot.

Yes, I thought it might be kernel related and it still maybe but I'm probably on my third attempt at a kernel to solve it, but no success yet. |
