I'm having some trouble understanding how to install my soundcard in gentoo. I've compiled EISA, ISA Plug and Play Support, OSS (module) and sb live compatible (module) drivers into my kernel. I've added "sb" to my modules.autoload file. I tried adding OSS to modules.autoload but it didn't work.
So, with my current setup, I can modprobe sb, and when I lsmod, certain portions of the driver are in fact being used, however, when I try to play an mp3 in mp3blaster, it tells me it can't open my sound device.
The first thing I want to do is get sound in the console to work, then in x applications, as I listen to my mp3s in the console with mp3blaster so if x crashes my tunes don't go buhbye.
I've also tried isapnptools, and pnpdump, but I totally don't understand what to do with that.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated. |
