Hi all,
When i try to "emerge -u system" i get an access violation error.
Here is what the log file sasy:
| Code: | | unlink: /portage/coreutils-5.2.1/work/coreutils-5.2.1/confdir3/confdir3/confdir3/confdir3 |
And it just keeps on repeating /confdir3
I searched and came across this workaround:
| Code: | | FEATURES="-sandbox -usersandbox" emerge --oneshot "=media-libs/svgalib-1.9.19" |
I tried that, but i still get the same error..
Some advice is welcome  |

Ah, now i understand a little bit more about it That Features command is package depend.. didn't spot that 
Some more information about the situtation: I compiled/installed my gentoo a year ago, and haven't booted it for over 11 months (due to circumstances). The emerge -u system command had 65 updates

I got the same errors for similar reasons (not booted in many, many months) but that command did not fix my problem. I am still getting the same error but it was when I was emerging the package app-arch/tar-1.51.1. |

Uh, please don't disable the sandbox, but file bugs instead. Do you have /var/tmp/portage symlinked?

Understood; just trying to get past this and found it in the forums.
No, /var/tmp/portage is not a symlink.
here is the portion of the emerge that is relevant:

| I am also having the exact same problem. Older system, but its been updated on a fairly regularly basis. It is running 2.4.20-gentoo-r7 if that makes a difference. Any thoughts? |
