Maybe this one has already been addressed but I'm too lazy to use the "search" thing ...
Whay if I want to update the rsync package and not the portage tree ?
What I'll do is:
emerge /usr/portage/net-misc/rsync/rsync-2.5.5.ebuild
but there must be another nicer way to do that.
I suggest emerge --rsync instead of emerge rsync to actually update the portage tree.
Or am I missing something ? |

You know, I was all set to answer your question when that comment really pissed me off. If you're too lazy to search for the answer, then I'm too lazy to take the time out of my day to help you.
Maybe you meant it in jest, but even so, it was an ill-advised comment.

You can just do an
Code: |
emerge net-misc/rsync
|
which is a bit shorter than your original command. |

- Is there any constructive part in your post at all ?
- Where is the help request in my post btw ?
- If you can find one help request there, is that specifically addressed to you ?
If you have the time to reply to this kind of post, uhm, well..... better stop that. |

Yes, I was whacking you upside the head with a clue-bat so you get some semblance of netiquette beat into you.

The forum guidelines clearly state that searching for other places that answer your question/issue (including the forum archives) is the first and second step you should take. Thus, if you choose to be a member of these forums, you're expected to abide by those guidelines.
So, please do not be "too lazy" to search in the future.

Both of you are violating rule #9: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=525. How about we stop the personal attacks?
Lets just leave it at that. Drop it. _________________ - Kyle Manna
