Less servers in RTCW under Linux ?

I recently installed RTCW on my gentoo box. I had the windows cd and no windows partitions so I installed it with Wine and winetools ( winetools is really great, should be in portage ).

But when I play multi-player im only getting about 30 servers, most of them empty with about 20 poeple max. I have patched to the latest version I could find 1.4 .

When I look on www.gamespy.com it always says between 2000 and 5000 poeple are playing RTCW ? What gives ?

Can I only play with other Linux users ?

Do you have RTCW updated to newest version? I think it is 1.4.
When I refresh internet servers, I usually get around 600-1000 servers listed.

Lately, I've been getting fewer servers. At least it seems so. Let me check:)

Damnit cant cut and past in this window, anyway I'm getting 44 servers with 881 players listed and 97 servers not listed. This is definately a decrease. And either Id stopped running their game servers or they're not listed either.

I think the problem may be punkbuster. I read about a problem with pb and linux. I've had trouble where pb wont start, I can fix it by deleting ~/.wolf/pb. Since pb is updated automatically i think it's the only thing that has changed and might be causing the problem.

P.S. Latest wolf version is 1.33

No I think latest version is 1.4

Anyway the file I downloaded to patch is called : wolf-linux-1.4.full.x86.run

459 servers as of 4:51pm today.
The newest version is 1.4 not 1.33.

before i said 1.33 was latest I checked ftp.idsoftware.com. Thought that would be definative, guess not...

I believe will install the new version if you don't already have it installed.

The id sites sometimes take a little bit to get updated.
It has been 1.4 as of Nov 5th I believe.

When I push the get new file list button, I get Querying Master Server, 400 ( or something ) servers found. But only about 30 servers appears and most of them are empty. I guess it's a problem on my side then.

How do you have your filters set up?
I have found that PB doesn't like to work with 1.4 for some reason...

I have punk buster up.... maybe that's what's causing this...

I was having troubles with PB, but found the fix, if anyone else is looking for it: http://punkbuster.com/index.php?page=news.
My problem was that I couldn't turn PB on in any version of rtcw.
breakcabal did you ever find more than 100 servers?
I know sometimes when I get a new list it only lists around 110 or so, and I just keep hitting the get new list button till I get around 400-600 listed.

Yeah I disabled punk buster and I get a lot of servers now.
