Hi all,
I looked in my fonts dir (/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts) and noticed i had truetype fonts, so i set it up in my /etc/X11/XF86Config so it finds the path.
When i type xfontsel and go through it i see arial etc now known by X.
but in when i set "FontName: arial" my .ideskrc file, and then type idesk it says:
Can't find font: arial
i can't get arial working with the fonts, i even used the -*-Arial-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* way.
I'm pretty stuck (prolly because i'm new to all this :-])
thank you for your help...

Well, idesk does not use the same font configuration as X does. Idesk uses Xft which is configured with fontconfig. You need to make sure that all your font directories are in /etc/fonts/font.config. Then run fc-cache. I don't have time right now to give examples, but there are a bunch of or posts you can search for that should help you out.
ps: did you try arial with a capital A yet?
