|
|
I'm trying to chroot to start setting up Gentoo on an existing install of SuSE, but every time I run the chroot command, I get this error:
Code: |
arsenic:~/gentoo_root # chroot /root/gentoo_root /bin/bash
chroot: cannot execute /bin/bash: Exec format error
|
What's up with that? _________________ Gentoo:

Please explain. I am trying to install Gentoo for AMD64 from my existing x86 installation, and I am getting that error as well. |

Hmm... I don't think this is going to be possible. Your tarball is presumably the amd64 variety, and so everything on it will be 64-bit. Your 32-bit chroot program won't understand the 64-bit executable though, so it will give up. _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

Okay, that makes sense. Guess I'll have to boot from the LiveCD in order to do the install. |
