What does it add from 3.0? _________________ Face it, we are all noobs.
On the box it said it was designed for Win XP or better, so why won't it work with Linux? |

It's mainly a bugfix release. Don't think there are many feature enhancements.
I hope they have done something about the clipboard (which is really f****d up in 3.0). |

not enough time from release of 3.0 to now. i think it's only a bugfix release!
What matters, i think i will never use KDE again
Think on developing times. They can't have done soo much new. But okay, there could be a lot of bugs fixed. I hope for KDE, i havn't found bugs in kde 3.0, but i think there are lot of i havn't seend (used it around a week? *LOL*)

I don't use KDE but I think it's great
There were 5 weeks between KDE 3.0 and KDE 3.0.1 and you can fix a lot of bugs within this time...
I just hope Gentoo clears up all the things (some day everything releated to 2.x is deleted, everything is 3.0.1 and not some pieces are still 3.0 etc.]
but I guess they'll do it right |

It's always been quite nippy for me... are you sure you're not falling victim to the name resolution issue discussed in the sticky note at the top of this forum?

Bryn. | I don't use KDE... I've just read alot of posts with claims of slowness. With the bugs and reported speed issues, I decided it can't be better than Gnome. I've had no problems with Gnome, and it doesn't seem slow. |

only as a reference : I'm using kde3 with this system :
amd k7-800 and 196mb of sdram
no troubles involving speed. Gfx are great. We just need some more q3 compatible soft
Indeed the ram usage is quite a lot (in comparison with fluxbox etc)... If you realy need the extra free mbs of ram, don't use kde I guess, but if you're just a desktop user, I think using e.g fluxbox for less ram usage reasons, is quite stupid, you know, because you're not using the extra ram anyway ...
I'm using about 150mbs of ram now, running kde, with som apps opened : x-chat, konsole (5 subs), system load manager, xmms, 3 konquerors ...
I've never had complaints about speed in kde. (is my system realy that good ) |

I find kde3 to be much faster and cleaner than 2.x The biggest improvement by far is speed. AA fonts are really nice too. I recommend it highly for any desktop user. _________________ Radio Shack, You have questions we have blank stares. |
