Yes, there have patch and binary (your choice) for Mozilla, but not Phoenix. The patch works great on FreeBSD. Here's link -> http://fontconfig.org/mozilla/ .. ;)

No doubt you've seen this thread

There are actually quite a few engines, you can list them all by doing 'emerge gtk-engines -s' in a terminal.

I was trying to emerge gnome-2.1.2
and ended up the fillowing error

This part shows that the package needs newer version of x11-libs/libwnck to compile. The libwnck-2.1.3 ebuild is there. Just emerge it and try again.
