XDirectFB rc3 not merging properly?

Hello. I've tried merging xdirectfb rc3 and rc2-r2 on two machines so far and I keep ending up without the XDirectFB binary, just some config files and the startxdfb script. I've read about a few people trying to get it to work, but all of them seem to have it merged alright. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Does anyone know why it's not merging? Here is some potentially pertinent info regarding the emerge:

OK, apparently I got a bad build or something because I just remerged xdirectfb rc3 onto each of the two machines I tried it on before (taking the time to first delete the X4.2.99* files in /usr/portage/distfiles/) and it merged flawlessly (no guarantee I can get it to work now...hopefully, but I won't know until I have more free time). If anyone knows why this happened to me (three times!) then post, otherwise I'll just leave it that if anyone has the same problem, delete the source files and remerge and hopefully it'll work. Weird stuff.
