Hello!

I'v found here two files: love-sources-2.6.7-r1.notes and 2.6.7-love1.b0rked.bz2. But where is the ebuild? And when it will be?

Sorry for my English...

the b0rked bit in the filename of the patch makes me want to think you don't want to install it ghehe

just give it some time, I'm sure the next release will pop up pretty soon :)

If you want a win4lin patch for 2.6.7-mm1, see my sig (or use xx-sources), I have a patch for 2.6.7-mm2 which will compile cleanly, but win4lin segfaults, there is a clash with the fb in mm2.

HTH a bit :D

There's still 2.6.7-rc3-love1, which is working here. ;) I don't see why it's so very important to have 2.6.7-love1 right away. You're still more up-to-date with a 3-release-old love kernel than all the people with g-d-s.

No offence to g-d-s, of course.

well, i tried that.. seemed to run fine - it even compiled this time.
but when i woke up this morning and switched from X to an fb-
console, the console was garbled and the system had hardlocked.

so i went back to mm2 while waiting for Damouse to complete love1.

2.6.7-rc3-love2 works like a charm here, so far there doesnt seem to be a need to upgrade I guess :)

Just have to wait for 2.6.8-rc1 then :p

of course the "old" love-sources are nice, but people keep telling that the final 2.6.7-kernel rocks more than every other. Since i´m a speedfreak i´d like to get it. But, again, since win4lin doesn´t work properly, i´ll stay with the old love (i still need some windows apps which don´t have any linux-replacements, let´s say mathcad and autocad-mechanical-desktop).
No need to hurry, i can wait ;-)

2.6.7-mm2 is just being a pain in the arse for me, love1 won't compile all over the place and smells funny.

While waiting for the next -love, I'm using 2.6.7-mm2 patched with Con's autoswap and staircase 7.4. It's amazing - a very significant speed boost over previous versions.

I am going to load mm2 tonight. Where can I get those patches for hte staircase and the autoswap? What programs do you use to benchmark? I am going to try to do a before with just mm2, one with the staircase, and one with the staircase and autoswap. Then I want to compare it to love when it comes out. Thanks.

Hm, was it such a great step from 2.6.7-rc3 to the final 2.6.7?

Is it just me, or has 2.6.7-mm2 broken reiser4 again?

Staircase: http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/2.6/2.6.7-mm2/from_2.6.7-mm2_to_staircase7.4

Looks like Con just released a new autoswap (now called VM autoregulate). Haven't tested it yet, but it's here:
http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/2.6/2.6.7/from_2.6.7_to_vm_autoregulate
(It'll probably have a failed hunk or two, should be easily fixable).

my system locked up two times already with a garbled
fb console when i switched from X to that fb console;
this was on mm2.

another person mentioned he had the same problem
with mm1, so i am steering clear of both of them for
now.

Using latest Redeeman-sources (2.6.7-Redeeman2) which has the latest reiser4 snapshot, I get a kernel panic on boot. 2.6.7-rc3-love2 still works fine though. I am very anxious to see the new reiser4 snapshot in action as I here all known bugs were fixed.

I myself can't say I've noticed much of a difference between these two kernels - that's not saying that I know what I'm looking for 8)

i got the garbled console problem with -mm2 too.

currently using the latest ck-sources in portage - they have all the cool performance stuff + bootsplash and supermount: http://members.optusnet.com.au/ckolivas/kernel/ , but no reiser4.

btw. check out this thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=188541&highlight=steel300
- sounds like no more love-sources to me

love-sources is being maintained by numerous people at the moment. I believe Redeeman is currently in charge, and OneOfOne did a few before him.

OneOfOne is still in charge of love sources. Redeeman is maintaining the LiveCD and Redeeman-sources.

don't you think it'll be cool to have a bleeding-edge kernel ebuild (based on the -mm patchset) that lets you determine the patches you want such as staircase, reiser4, supermount, and etc through USE-flags? that is to have that instead of all the different love, redeeman, evil, and so on sources - it seems to me that it's a waste of time to have 3 different groups of people trying to keep up with the latest kernel craze

say
Quote:
USE="staircase reiser4" emerge superduper-sources

or something like that
